Understood. But given equivalent materials, construction and design, 35 will be better.
I think it ended up around $2k with tax and delivery and customs. The only upcharge was $100 for the 3 band EQ. I had a couple of change orders along the way and there was no charge for them.
I think I paid a little more than the ultimate lowest price possible, but I like the dealer very much and am happy to support them. Bass Central in Florida. Highly recommended because they have a lot of experience with Sandberg. They even pre-order and stock them when available.
Bass players shouldn't be such cheap curmudgeons.
I also have a TT SL, and there's nothing that bass won't do, so don't be disheartened. I'm s P-bass guy, and have had bass players tell me that the way I have the TT set up, it sounds like a P. I agree.
I wanted the VT because I prefer the smaller, more symmetrical body, and I like PJ setups best.
I also have a weird thing where I buy a new bass when I start a new band, which I did in March. Not that we've played...
I am SUPER happy with my SL TT. At First I ordered the SL TM, but then couldn't wait any longer and went for the TT that Bass Direct (UK) had in stock. Guys in my band were just blown away by its sound. I love absolutely every bit of it! It's my first high-end bass, I have a Squier VM Precision, I sold my Sire V7 and bought this Sandberg. I love especially the fact that it's super light! One day I think I'll get a bass with a humbucker
Did a couple of cosmetic mods to my Lionel short scale today. Received this custom Wenge pickguard and added some THG knobs that I had..The original gloss black pickguard was getting pretty scratched up and thought this would look good and be a bit more durable. I'm happy how it turned out.

Just want to say that I've been playing my California TM (pictured in my avatar) and absolutely LOVING everything about it. The feel, the neck, the sound...it is truly an amazing instrument. It's a take on a traditional Jazz that I don't think I've seen anywhere else. Either companies are trying to duplicate and out-Jazz the Jazz (hard to do) or they go nowhere near except maybe in looks. Sandberg nailed this instrument if what you're looking for is a lot of what makes a Jazz so cool, but also adds that M-style, single/hum bridge pickup that adds incredible meat and substance to the palette either in conjunction with the neck pickup or by itself. If I could only keep and use one bass forever, this would be it.
Anyway, just felt like gushing a bit...I'm sure you other Sandberg devotees have your own love stories to tell. And as Buddy the Elf says, "I'm in love and I don't care who knows it!"

There's a really nice short scale Lionel on BassDirect here in the UK, blueburst & maple, 9lb even apparently. It looks gorgeous, and I really need to not spend 4 figures on a bass a month before Xmas.

Howdy! I use a TM5, and usually split the bridge pickup with the toggle switch. So essentially I'm running it as two jazz pickups. It's my fave native voice for a bass. I do like having the onboard EQ, and always run it active. You might consider a TM, so you have those options.
And white with a tortoise shell pickguard is a beautiful look, IMHO.
