Club Sandberg (part 2)

Howdy! I use a TM5, and usually split the bridge pickup with the toggle switch. So essentially I'm running it as two jazz pickups. It's my fave native voice for a bass. I do like having the onboard EQ, and always run it active. You might consider a TM, so you have those options.

And white with a tortoise shell pickguard is a beautiful look, IMHO.

TM4 for me as pictured in my avatar. LOVE this instrument, love the color, love the feel, love the sounds. And I agree that having the bridge M pickup gives me so much tonal variety. It's unique and familiar at the same time. Just a joy.

Thank you very much..I am really intrigued because I hear really good talk about these sandberg basses..and I love the jazz bass sound so I am oriented on a passive tt4..heavy relic masterpiece ..

Can't go wrong. And I really like the shape. It's Jazz-y without being a copy. It's modern and very comfortable. They nailed it IMO.

Likewise; the ergonomics suit me very well. Better than the downsized Jazz shape other builders offer. One thing I especially like is that the reach to the first fret is a bit shorter.

I have a passive TT4 (not masterpiece but rarewood version) and it's great. The pickups are fantastic and it plays really nice.
I tried a Masterpiece TT4 passive though and it was great too.

Thanks a lot! I am surprised because in all this time I have never found a person who has negative opinions on a bass sandberg .. and all this intrigued me a lot .. I have seen the masterpieces and they are wonderful!

Thanks a lot! I am surprised because in all this time I have never found a person who has negative opinions on a bass sandberg .. and all this intrigued me a lot .. I have seen the masterpieces and they are wonderful!

I have TT5 passive (non-Masterpiece), but woods and pickups are the same: alder body and passive Sandberg single coil pickups which are one of the best sounding jazz pickups I've tried. I also prefer all-passive jazz basses as you do. Masterpiece is even a step forward cause you'll get vibration and heat treatment to your bass to make it sound like it's been played. So answering to your question, you will sure to like your TT4 passive Masterpiece if you prefer traditional passive jazz bass tone.

BTW my friend recently bought exactly the bass you're talking about and although he owns tons of gear he says his TT4 Masterpiece became his main player. I personally think my next purchase will be TT5 Masterpiece cause I love Sandberg relic finish job.

I already have a Fender jazz custom shop 60 and I am very curious to compare them ... not so much for the sound that is the classic jazz sound but for the construction details, finishes and components ... all this will be very interesting

I compared mine TM4 Hardcore reserved (with splitted humbucker and in passive mod) with friends Fender Jazz 78. I preferred Sandberg in both sound and feel .

I can't wait too, I'm then thinking of putting the Kloppmann pickups on the Sandberg they speak so much about… and I'm even more curious about this comparison!

9 months in with my custom VS4, and couldn’t be happier. It cuts through the mix like … not like a laser, not at all, more like a slightly blunt, but well-worn and -maintained knife used with expertise and some considerable force. At the same time, it’s dead quiet no matter what fluorescent lamps or refrigerators stand in the room, despite it being fully passive. Very comfortable to play, no cramps even during a 2h set. Tonal range is impressive; there’s tons of tones you can eek out of it simply by moving your plucking hand some, the Tone dial does the rest. The VS4 works very very well from classic rock to metal, and in a three-piece, it fills up any gaps in the sonic space nicely. Best ~ $ 1800 I ever spent on bass gear.

This is my red couple. TT5 passive and VS5. VS5 will have a pickup replacement soon, I’ve just got a Nordstrand NP5 pickup for it. TT5 pickups are one of my favorites. Great passive Alnico-5 singles.
