Finding a review of a Sandberg bass is akin to finding a unicorn.
Has anyone in here played or own the Martin Mendez Cali? I'm very close to pulling the trigger on one. The pickup location has me intrigued. I generally stay on the neck only occasionally using the bridge or both when the song absolutely requires it. I have a Grand Dark with the Plus pickups so I have that as reference. I really can't find much info on the Mendez and the video I found seems to have been filmed and recorded all from a cell phone.
I binge watched a ton of your videos the other day. How you do your demos and comparisons should be the standard! Keep up the great workI would be happy to make one...if they send me one

I have the Kloppmann jb 71 on my passive tt4..they are just gorgeous

Good to know, thanks! Did you have a chance gi compare them with the stock Sandberg single coils in the same bass?
Unfortunately not because I asked Sandberg to mount the stock Kloppmanns for me .. the jb 71 are an exact reproduction of the 70's jazz pickups ..
I didn't realize it, but Sandberg will do a Superlight with a gloss finish.
The one thing keeping me from buying one, is that every superlight I have seen has a satin finish. I prefer gloss just because it's tougher and less likely to dent.

There's practically nothing Sandberg are unwilling to do if you're willing to pay. Most things won't even cost you all that much extra.
True. I discovered this while ordering a new bass. The biggest problem was having to go through the dealer for everything. It would have been better if I could talk directly to them but make the purchase through the dealer.
It makes sense in that it saves them the hassle of having to sift through, best case scenario, hundreds of emails a week from customers pondering and considering this and that.
It does add some 'bureaucracy' to the process, but I don't mind it a whole lot. Most customers aren't purchasing a bass every few months, after all.
Personally, I've been extremely pleased with Sandberg's willingness to accommodate my wishes for a "P on steroids, but make it reverse, oh and 35'', oh and flamed maple, oh and V/T with an active buffer option, oh and no pickguard pretty please". The only variable in the equation is how much I'd like the Delano pick-up I opted for, but worst scenario I'll plup in a G&L MFD split-coil.

I see. I am about to order a set of Kloppmann JB61-5 for my TT5 passive. Just wanted to hear as many feedback as possible about these pickups.
Pardon, I was quite tired when I wrote that.
An important correction: it is roasted maple, not flamed, neck and fingerboard.
Body will be their standard matte black over ash with black hardware.
I had wanted something akin to dark crimson in their matte finish, but they only offer any custom color you want in their glossy finish
