I bought an old Sandberg Basic on Reverb that I wanted some extra info on and they got back to me a day later.
Then I notice some screws and some plastic rings from the machine heads missing and I ask if I could order them separately from them. They ask me for my address and then send me some for free!
Great bunch, highly recommended!
For those of you with a forty eight....what kind of case are you using? I saw a post from a long time ago that someone used an epi thunderbird case that kind of works. But ideally, I'd like to find a flight case or at least something that is more substantial. But I don't want to have to spend $500 and have the thing shipped from overseas to do it.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Hey VM5 owners.
Is it normal for my neck pick up to be much louder than my bridge pickup. If I solo the bridge or blend the pickups on the bridge side of the detent, there is a noticeable volume drop then on the neck side of the detent.

Similar on my TM4, so I lowered the neck pickup and picked up the bridge pickup. It was much much better. Also had the difference in volume between humbucker and single coil when splitted, so I setup the humbucker under an angle where the working single is higher than the back side of the humbucker. It works just fine now

Good idea, thanks. I was just thinking that I like the volume and tone of the neck, but would like a little more bridge. That make perfect sense. Sometimes it’s just easier to hear it from someone else instead of the trial and error process. Thanks again!
Sooooooooooooooo... I am (was) not a fan of red basses. But, this is AMAZING, and... I've "kinda" been looking at this particular model. I may be interested. Not a great time of year to spend money. Although...
Are the Sandberg tuning machines made by Gotoh? I was weighing some tuners on various basses and decided to weigh one off of my VM5. I knew they felt good and were likely light, but they were the lightest of the bunch by a wide margin, even beating out the Gotoh Res-O-Lites (full sized Fender type model).
Oh, and another thing I noticed when removing the tuner, do the bridge saddles attach to anything? I have yet to do a string change and when I removed the string, the saddle just fell off. I don't see anything holding it in other than the string pressure. That seems a little odd.
The old ones were made by Grover (or whoever makes their tuners, it's the same model as Grover 142). The new ones share many similarities, so I would guess they're using the same OEM, but can't find the lightweight model in their catalog.
There should be a spike sticking out from the left side of the saddle, which is locked in place by a grub screw. The older bridge had a grub screw directly locking the saddle in place.

This video helped me a lot. One of my saddles did the same thing my first string change until I secured the Allen key with the side spike. Now it’s all good.
I don't want to sell mine, but a super nice used TT is available from CME and I think they would take 10% off the asking price. Someone please buy this before I do (I have no affiliation with the sale)
