Not sure as I really don't have anything to compare it to, but it feels real good and alive
My older Sandberg "VM4" (California shape) also has no serial number that I can find. It is certainly not on the back of the headstock like my other 2 Sandbergs.
Well...I'm gonna have to go with it being older because unless somebody just completely did a rip off then it is DEFINITELY a Sandberg. I mean, it's got Sandberg 4-dot logos all over the thing....on the pickups, on the guitar body and on the headstock it says Sandberg and has the 4-dots. The guitar is the best guitar bass I've ever played (except maybe one show where I didn't have my bass and had to fill in at the last minute and played a '74 Fender Jazz....but otherwise....
I guess like you and Kasbrey said....I guess it must be a older one.....does that makae it more......or...less rare?

Sandberg California TM5 Supreme.
Bought her used for 800euros. I'm her third owner so she has little dings and scratches but i love her.
Thats not a Supreme, though? Looks like a TM5 to me. Think Supremes have matching headstocks?

Bass has been my first instrument for 13 years, but I've never had the cash for a nice ax (journalist...). This year I just did it, hey. It was the best decision. I've always loved Jazzes but every Fender Deluxe I've tried has been a total dog. Probs with QC? Maybe. So I got Sandy to custom up my dream machine. It just arrived today.
Totally worth living on noodles for the next 10 years.

I was at a local music store the other day and played an electra TT4 (jazz style). At this price range(679) there was nothing coming remotely close to the sound and feel of that bass. There was only one loose pot but everything else, DAYUM!!!
I would probably be reaching for my wallet if there was a passive version or the possibility to switch between passive and active modes. Moreover I am really curious to see how much the cost would go down if they used passive electronics instead.

Yup, she's a blackburst alright (in a matt finish. I don't like shiny basses. I was so stoked when I realised Sandberg did matt, I did a little dance).
It is not cheap getting this stuff in Australia, but it was still cheaper than picking up a Fender Deluxe 5. I've been tooling around with it tonight. I did this quick demo of one of my band's new tracks, if you wanna hear how I'm going with this bea$t
