I just received a California supreme on a trade. Didn’t give it much thought at all… just another trade. I just spent a couple of days with it and I’m pretty blown away with it. It’s my first Sandberg. This one has the Delano Xtender pickups. The playability is amazing. Super straight neck with ultra low buzz free action. It also has a thin (front to back) neck profile. Do all Sandbergs have these amazing necks?? I’m quite curious
Absolutely !!! EBMM and Sandberg are the most comfy necks and best quality to price basses imho.I just received a California supreme on a trade. It will be worth the wait. That is a lovely looking Sandberg. Just dont expect it to sound or play like a Fender or a MusicMan. These basses offer more clarity and note separation. It's a slightly more modern sound, I almost sold mine a couple of times but I am so glad I began to appreciate it for what it is. Boutique feel quality , and great playability, plus some very usable sounds are what you can expect.Just got a message from @Paajanenae that my VM5 is set up and awaiting courier pickup, so now begins a week of refreshing the tracking page.
Bass apparently weighs 3.7 kg (8.15 lbs), which is even lower than I hoped. Really looking forward to this

Lionel owner here. Mine has flats in it and it sounds like a halfway between a PBass and a Hofner. I absolutely love its sound and I think it can get in vintage territory super easy - it might not be that EXACT classic PBass tone but sounds pretty darn close to me and I honestly think it has some serious mojo/character that sets it apart from your vintage PBass tones.
Also, this thing played with a pick has one of my favorite attack/transient qualities ever. It cut through the mix with so much ease.
Here are two soundclips:
Beautiful! Congrats! The rosewood board has a nice grain and looks great against the white color and pearloid pickguard. I like the blank (no inlay) look as well. I have that on my TM4. Please keep us up to date with your initial impressions. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the B-string.It arrived![]()
I love how the fretboard looks like the trees on your screen saver.

i'm another short scale dude and was also looking at the Lionel. however, i got serious GAS when i discovered their Florence model. i just pulled the plug on a used one (not going to wait 18 months to have my own one built).Nice! I currently play a JMJ mustang, but I am wondering if I should sell it and buy a Lionel. I know they're different, but I can only have one. Any advice?
Congrats!! I just got word from a friend in a music instrument stor a couple of hours drive from here that they received a Marley Blue hardcore aged Lionel and a green Florence yesterdayi'm another short scale dude and was also looking at the Lionel. however, i got serious GAS when i discovered their Florence model. i just pulled the plug on a used one (not going to wait 18 months to have my own one built).
the Lionel is probably more versatile, but the mudbucker on the Florence is something i don't have in my arsenal and sounds amazing on the demos i've watched.
should be with me next week...
i'm under no illusion that it probably is!The Florence seems amazing. I guess I'm just worried that it might be a one trick pony...
