Thank you, that was also suggested in my other thread. I have done that and didn't see an immediate effect. I'm letting the neck settle and will check that again later and let you know. Do you have any experience regarding the grooves in the zero frets and their cut quality?
I have the California VS and I find the neck really comfortable, I've never had issues with fret buzzing. I like the action to be medium to low and to use fairly soft strings I typically use 40 - 95s XL nickels. I find in general if you want to have super low action you need higher tension heavy strings, if you want light strings you should raise the string height a little or else you'll get buzzing, but that's just what i've found in the past. If you are finding the frets buzzing unreasonably a luthier can re-fret the neck.
The cut lines on the zero fret appear to be machined OK to me, but the bass is a few years old and may be 'worn-in'
I did a quick check as I'm pressed for time unfortunately: The truss rod has definitely adjusted, the action is higher now. The buzz at the nut/zero fret on open E & A is still there 
Will follow up with a more thorough check and action adjustment at the bridge.
@Quilbert : It's not typical fret buzz, but just buzz at the nut/zero fret. No buzzing when fretting notes. Thanks for checking your zero fret grooves. I will have mine checked by the dealer I got the bass and possibly contact Sandberg with them.

I´ve had my Basic Ken taylor for about two weeks now and i´ve grown to love the sound of it

i finally got to use my sandberg cali umbo for a couple of full jams. i was a little sketchy about a passive bass hanging in a post metal band setting with such low tuning. totally blown away with the sound and how diverse it was with the pickup location/sound and the ability to switch eq on the fly. highly recomended!

Finally took the bass to the store I got it from and their tech looked it over. He tweaked my setup, to his taste and understanding the neck was bowed quite a bit so he straightened it. Also he checked and adjusted the action, string radius mostly. Got the bass back yesterday and the buzzing problem is gone! Action is now really low, which I've come to like.

These were all mine until yesterday when I sold the Blue Ken Taylor, a truly awesome bass... Just needed to downscale for now as the project band isn't doing anything

Oh man , the neck is kinda thin like an Ibanez and it's best suited for slapping and fast stuff. I only play classic rock and metal at the moment so no need for it.
Great bass, ordered some new gold knobs with pearloid inlay because these faded ones are a bit dull (pun intended)
Also the knobs on this are pretty annoying, they only really utilize like... 75% of a full 360 turn. (If that makes sense) Makes it quite hard to control the balance and EQ...

HELP!
The preamp on my California VS has simply died? It still works in passive mode when I pull out the volume knob. I've tried several batteries with no luck. Any suggestions ?

Have you tried reaching out to them? They are super good about responding to their Facebook page of you PM them.
