Bought this S-1 recently.Very nice bass and great sound.
So S-1 is the designation for the TerraBass shape.
Could be next on my list if they'll do it Black & Hardcore Aged with a maple fingerboard.
Either that or an Umbo, black, matching headstock, red pick guard, maple fingerboard, hardcore aged. I wonder if the Umbo fit's in with the modern metal sound with it producing 'retro sounds' ?
What is the Umbo retro sound ? Is it like playing with a bit of fuzz pedal added or through one of those Fender TV bassman combo's with some distortion dialled in ? How would the low B sound with regards to focus and tightness say compared to a Basic ?

Many Sandberg basses under the tree.
I was pleasantly surprised by the tone of the instrument (especially because of the body construction). Punchy as hell with a bunch of low end. Pretty close to an EBMM, yet more of it's own personality shines thru. Paired it up later with my Xotic Tri-logic pre-amp pedal, and found a match made in heaven. Looking to find a two band pre in a stomp box that models the pre-EBMM to permanently pair with this girl. The biggest compliment that I have been getting from other bass players that play my instrument is on the neck. Solid, and extremely comfortable.

After a 2,5 month wait wich felt like 5 months, It arrived 3 weeks ago.
It's an absolutely stunning bass, only thing I DO NOT like are the Sandberg strings...
They sound like 5 month old strings. I'm going to put EB Slinky's on there in the coming week, like those a lot more.

I've been doing some searches on this without any fruitful results; hoping someone around here can answer it: What are the neck dimensions on the 4-string California basses? Specifically, what is the width at the nut and 12th fret, and are the necks different on T- and V-style models?
I'm leaning towards getting a passive TT as soon as I can save up the money, but if the V-style basses have the same, slim neck I might consider going with a different configuration...
Would also love to hear any thoughts on the passive Sandberg pups v. their active counterparts.
EDIT: I did some more searching, and I found some german (which I don't really read, but comprehend somewhat) articles from 2004 that list the neck width at the nut of a PM model as 38 mm (1.5") and a JM model as 39 mm (1.54"). I found this a little strange, presuming that these figures are the same for all P and J models, respectively. Are the P model necks really slightly slimmer?

Well, I own a California JJ 4 string (not a TT...bought it before the model name change) and while I don't know the exact spec I can say that it is certainly wider than a Fender J bass @ the nut
That would be in concurrence with the review I read, then... I believe the Fender J's are 38mm/1.5" at the nut - I would be surprised if the P-style Sandbergs are the same.
Hopefully I'll have a chance to try both models in the next few days.

I have 3 Sandbergs (a JM, JJ and a PM) and they all measure 39mm at the zero fret.
The PM feels wider in the hands though, probably due to the shallower "C" profile.
Interesting. How do you compare the sound options between the JJ and the JM? I got a JJ5 and sometimes wish I'd gone for the JM. I already have an EBMM Stingray 5, so thought that my humbucker needs were filled.
