Originally, the JJ had the capability of more vintage (60's) tones IMO.
As stock, my JM4 had the switched single coil in the MM pickup closer to the neck. I turned the pickup round (carefully cutting through the glue on the cover and rotating it) so the single coil, in switched mode, was the one closer the the bridge. This puts the coil in the classic 70's position with the corresponding tone .
Previously the coil was further towards the neck than a 60's Jazz and sounded wrong to my ears.
In humbucker mode you can get a reasonable MM sound and more.
The JM has the versatility now of a P, 70'S J, and MM

I got an Sandberg (clear thing, not stolen or any illegal stuff) 2 years ago but I will never wanted to learn play on it.
It is an custom PM 5 string bass in tobacco color.
It is brand new, newer used. It has an really massive flight case as well.
It is in my office about 2 years and I need the space so I wanna to sell it.
I know what was its initial price, but I do not really know how much it is worth now.
As I told, it is newer used, brand new there is no scratch or anything. I give 2 leather belts and an sandberg body cleaner liquid for gratis
It is located in Hungary, Europe.

Wow! Thats amazing, never saw a Sandberg like that besides from the custom section on their website. It's worth something, I would say not less than 1500 euros. Sadly I can't buy it of you no cash right now. Try put offer it on websites like geba-online or Bassmarkt, those two websites are quite popular here in germany and as far as I know it's free to post an advert. Good luck selling it, maybe you still decide about letting it go and not learn playing. A very special bass you got there, I bet the quality is superb.

Okay, after a few weeks of adjusting to my Custom 5 I have to say....LOVE IT!!! It's is one of the most versatile instruments that I own. I absolutely love it. Everyone that hears/plays it really digs the tonal variations that can be found with small adjustments to the pre amp controls. This thing sounds great AND IT HAS DEAD STRINGS! The strings are the original strings that were on the bass as it shipped from the Sandberg plant...well over 5 years ago!
Same experience as mine (TM5 Supreme), very well made and really versatile. Plus it sounds good even in passive mode! I have flats on mine 
I had the pleasure of playing a Sandberg Custom Supreme at NAMM 2012 and was totally blown away! The Delano X-Tender pickups coupled with the Glockenklang 3-band pre with coil split and 3 position mid switches make for a very versatile bass! Do any of you know if this preamp is available on the Ken Taylor or Custom? Speaking of the Ken Taylor model, I'm really liking this one:

The one thing I found extremely interesting is that switching between passive and active brings no change in output volume/gain that I normally experience with many other instruments.
I like it! Black Hardware nicely figured wood and a Fretless with MM pus. Great choice.

It's one of the most versatile Bass I've ever played on!
I did a quick recording of the bass just for demonstrating its unbelieveable versatility...
You can hear at first the neck- pu, then both pick-ups in parallel setting, then both in serial setting. Then you can hear the neck pu with again parallel and at least the neck pu in serial mode.
