Club Sandberg (part 2)

I've got the oportunity to get it but never played one before. Absolutely love the look and sound, from what I've listened on YouTube. How would you say it is, comfort-wise?

You will find these older ones more akin to a Fender Jazz body style. There are several Sandberg players I know that prefer the older shape. I believe their opinions are based on comfort and perhaps familiarity too.

The Sandberg necks are great too. A very payable instrument.

I doubt you will have any problems.

No. 6 Sandberg. :roflmao:

Grand Dark. Darkglass pre, 35”, Pau Ferro, San Marino Blue..

@DJ '65 Noooooooooooo!!!!

It’s funny for me the DK goes nowhere , sometimes I struggle with my white TT with reverse headstock, but as it’s so unique I cannot part with it, just as I struggle I leave it and pick it up again and it’s amazing.

@FacStudio is a bugger, he knows I like a 48, an Umbo and a Grand Dark, What does he go and do.......?!

I am secretly happy for him!

The strings that came on my Electra P-style were round, SS, 45-100/
I know that Sandberg sells strings but with shipping it's just too much.
The colored ball ends make me think they are XL's but these seem to have less tension while playing.

Today's questions:
What US string is closest to stock?
What strings are you using?
I had been using Sunbeams on Fenders (nickel wrap on round core), but like the flexibility of the stock Sandberg SS strings and the tone isn't too bright like some SS (to me).
Maybe DR SS round core?

Thoughts?

I am told by a U.K. dealer the Sandberg strings are GHS Boomers. Repackaged for Sandberg. That’s what I was told anyway.

Hi Jim C :)

My basses came with SS rounds (no coloured ball ends) with grey silk.

US strings? No idea! I use Sandberg strings! (whatever they are) and Rotosound 66 SS rounds.
(British, darn Brexit might change the price for me:()

Whoever makes them, it must be a huge outfit because they aren' t very expensive! (in Europe)

You've got to love these guys.
Wanted to see if the factory would let us know what strings came on what models.
I had already aske a few questions and mentioned that I wasn't trying to be a PIA over minor details.
I sent an email and had a reply 1 1/2 hours later:

Hi Jim,
no problem, you are welcome!
I will answer all you questions as long as you have some.

We use 4 different types of bass strings at the moment….

Electra Series – D´Addario nickel
Marlowe DK Signature Bass – Dunlop nickel
Fretless basses – GHS Boomers nickel
6-sting basses – GHS Boomers nickel
All other basses – Sandberg stainless steel

Best,
Mike
