Club Sandberg (part 2)

@kasbrey is right.

Remember also you won’t get a Ray atone out of the M pick up.

The final tone you get will be heavily influenced by your pick up choice, commonly Delano’s vs Sandberg Black Labels vs Haüssel vs Kloppman

Those are the common variations they do

Necks are brilliant

Hi all, this seems like the best place to ask..I'm looking at moving on from my Stingray classic and buying a Sandberg California TM4 or possibly VM4 (hardcore aged).

Are there massive tonal differences? Like Jazz or P bass? Also neck shape.. is there a big difference?

Regarding necks... Hopefully this helps (my opinion only, of course).

I think I can understand.

It may be that the discomfort you are experiencing is not due to the width of the neck (i.e. from one side of the neck to the other), but may be due to either the thickness of the neck (i.e. from the fretboard to the back of the neck) or even due to the radius of the fretboard. Or some combination. Sandberg necks are quite thin and have a very flat 14" radius, Stingray necks are somewhat thicker and have an 11" radius.

The difference in neck geometry is quite noticeable, but I wouldn't give up either my 'Berg or my 'Ray. They are both excellent quality basses.

DISCLAIMER: I've actually just ordered another 'Berg because I love them so much.

Hi,

Got my first Sandberg a couple weeks ago from a fellow TB'er @Autbra! Used it on a gig last week and it sounded great.

I'm not sure. The seller said it might be 2016 or 2017. I've been looking for information about them, but have been unsuccessful so far. Everything I've seen or read so far are already about the active/passive versions. So, help please, anyone?
I'm intrigued.

The shape of the pickguard indicates it's pre-2015. And the body finish looks to be unusual. Is it translucent creme?

Also is it all passive?

It may be a true custom build.

Agree that you should send the serial number to Sandberg to see what they say. Their customer service is usually good. I've even had emails from Holger himself.

Nice to know that it's a little older than expected. I was looking for a nice pbass and this was the first I saw on the classifieds. After reading reviews about Sandberg, I didn't waste any time haha
It's all passive and you're right about the finish. I sent them an email already and I received an automatic reply from Holger saying that he's at the NAMM show. I'll just wait until he gets back.
