Club Sandberg (part 2)

Looks awesome!
I'm about to order almost the same configuration next month. Hope it doesn't take as long!!
What's the neck, ebony?
Yes. it's ebony with binding. Neck is perfect. I had many basses in past 30 years, but never own neck like this one. On the other hand, sound on humbacker is still mystery for me. Not 100 % what I expected (comparing to Rays). To much mids, and just 2 band eq.

@Obrad Lacarac it was never meant to be like a stingray, don’t let the fact it is an M pick up fool you.

It’s in a different location to a Ray, it’s a different Preamp, it’s wound differently - it will never sound like a Ray.

It is there to augment the Neck pick up to bring clarity in either the TM or VM format, or on its own, be more jazz like

It’s a common misconception with this model of Bass Sandberg do.

Looking forward to trying one out next week. I currently own a Stingray Classic so it'll be interesting to hear & feel the difference.

Don’t just consider, just get one 1 it’s a life changer.
The old pick ups are fine, sound great and have more of a vintage vibe to them. The new Black labels still have a bit of that vibe but they are hotter, and punchier if that makes sense. They can really transform a bass.

I suppose the closest example I could say in comparison to what you and I both know is comparing it to the VM you played.
That bass the tone is the same in passive or active mode, but it’s just a bit more in active with more push.
Similarly the old pick ups would be the bass passive mode and the new pickups the bass in active mode.
You can if course run the new black labels in passive or active basses.

Hope that sort of makes sense and we look forward to pictures of your Sandberg Bass shortly!

Well, this is with UPS somewhere and will arrive on Tuesday. I've never played a Sandberg, but couldn't resist the craziness :-)
