Yes, it's a 'Bocote' top which I find really nice with the tight grain structure. I has a different flavour to the others for sure.

I'm using Fender flatwounds on my TM4.

I found the stock strings rough so bought a set of nickle D`addario`s but the sound of the bass was still too bright so I stuck on a set of Fender flats and that did the trick for me.

and fyi... wow.. I really like flats on my patchwork (basically a VM-5) ... even retains a good slap tone (though I never play slap)... not as bright and you get some low mids back... plus flats are good for the fingers

Well this just arrived yesterday TM4 Hardcore Aged Reserve Sunburst!
Now I can see what the fuss is all about, this thing plays and sounds amazing!
Love it.
