You need to spend more than half a day. It's 1/8th of an inch. I bet if you tried even a little you could get used to it pretty quickly.

I’ll echo...

Spend a little time with it. I have been averaging about 3 to 5 hours a day on mine since the 10th of January and I feel like I’m just starting to get a feel for the instrument.

I’ve been very lucky that I can pick up whatever bass and just play it. The exception to that was a Warwick wide neck five string.

You guys are right, I didn't choose the words nicely. That was exaggerated and I apologize. Could be my defense mechanism against the GAS that I have for the Specials lol. It's not working btw...

Hello, thanks for your help. I was playing the special and didn't feel comfortable, even a little hurt in my left forearm. The roasted neck is a little bit weird for my left thumb finger. When I played after the Sandberg I felt really good. Great bass the special, I want the same but only with other neck. Starting my looking for a good sterling or maybe Stingray slo. Thanks.

I think I can understand.

It may be that the discomfort you are experiencing is not due to the width of the neck (i.e. from one side of the neck to the other), but may be due to either the thickness of the neck (i.e. from the fretboard to the back of the neck) or even due to the radius of the fretboard. Or some combination. Sandberg necks are quite thin and have a very flat 14" radius, Stingray necks are somewhat thicker and have an 11" radius.

The difference in neck geometry is quite noticeable, but I wouldn't give up either my 'Berg or my 'Ray. They are both excellent quality basses.

DISCLAIMER: I've actually just ordered another 'Berg because I love them so much.

Looks pretty awesome, but I would strongly recommend to install the pickguard UNDER the strings. It will make playing the bass less awkward. ;)
