Can anyone compare the Schoeps CMC1U/MK4 (or 41) versus the DPA 4099 versus Chuck Israels Mic in live situations? Pros and cons?

Perhaps @Ric Vice Vice can chime in. I think he at least has experience with the DPA and he trialed my Chuck Israels Mic for a bit, though I don't know if he got to use it live.

I have been using the Chuck Israels Mic for several years through my Genzler Acoustic Pro Gollihur Model which provides 12v phantom power. It works very well and sounds great in the types of groups I work with - often without a drummer.

I have not used the other two.

It’s unlikely that anyone would be able to afford all three of those microphones. I’ve played the DPA 4099 B and the Xlson.
The DPA 4099 has really excellent off axis rejection and frequency response, it will feedback, if you’re using a back line amplifier though.
Weirdly enough, because the Xlson is a “side address” only microphone, it has really good off axis rejection and great feedback suppression using an amplifier.
I’d also say that it’s low end response on a live stage and recording is fuller and more pleasing. Just my take of course. I use the Remic DB5400
LB and DB 5400, because their so easy to mount and use live.

P.S. Rick is correct that both the Xlson and DPA will work at lower voltages (in my case) the 18v
supplied by the older Headway EDB-2.. That said, they both sound better at 48v and the noise floor improves. The Remic Green and red will also operate at 18v.

I doubt anyone has all three mics. It would be interesting to road trip and test some gear with others.
