I nearly forgot how much I used to enjoy posting here, it's been 5 years (give or take)my muse went silent by 2012, sold all my gear etc.
Last year about this time, it started to show signs of reawakening, before long, I got new recording software, a new bass (Stagg 5-string Music Man clone), a Strat (HSS) a lightly used 88-key MIDI keyboard and a huge library of drum loops.
Found my musical slant changed, now wanting to write shorter songs with a heavy R&B/Funk slant with interesting chord progressions and sardonic lyrics on subjects ranging from bears, bowling and AMTRAK to cranky old guys who yell at kids to gdt off their lawn and people with control issues. Yes, I've found my inner lyricist too, never thought it would be possible.
My taste in bass tones changed too, prefer a much more rounded off yet still punchy tone.
Don't really have the itch to perform live anymore, but really happy to do recording and a new album may be brewing here.
Has anyone ever taken a very long pause from music and came back to it? Would love to hear your experiences
