Comparing Basses To Cars

Cool! Awesome car, I find the the treble pickup cover is like the reverse lock on the gearshift... the white body binding that digs into your arm while you play is like the high door sills that make you feel like you're sitting down inside the car... the the way the controls are arranged backwards from most basses is like having the ignition on the floor... adjusting the bridge is like getting an old Saab to stop popping out of reverse... ick!

But... they're such cool cars, if you can love the quirks!

i think basses are more like women.
Some you treat with lots of respect
some you never yell at
some you always talk sweet too
some you just treat like a little B****
some you swing at and hit
some you love
ahhh..... spend money on.....cant forget that...

ect ect......
I agree. Some of my basses are treated like queens, but a couple are just meant for a good, if a bit rough, time... ;)

Oh, and:

Italia = VW

Full Of Rust and Dents
Fast Only Rolling Downhill
Falling Off Rusty Doors
First On Race Day(first to be pushed off the track, that is......):D

Say dude is your precious Chevy/GM even in business anymore?
Yes, no? will it survive restructuring? Same question applies to the Mopar heads in the crowd, while the manufacturer that you've slagged is still out there on it's own and ain't asked fer no cash from YOU the taxpayer yet.....

Just sayin'

no, see thats where youre wrong.
the american spectors would be the new Chevy Metros, top of the (metro) line.
the european would be your 98-00 GEO metros, simalar but not as high quality.

I love the wit in which you've made your comparison... but before I started working with Spector I played them... and still do.

And I have a thing for cars. I have to say pulling this (in the picture below) out of the garage is like pulling either of the Euro4LX models in the same photo out of the case to play.

The deal is when someone says a bass plays like a Ferarri... you sort of need to have driven the Ferarri to be able to speak about it and back up what you are saying.

And in this I can. I find the camparison in the photo much more appropriate.

To each their own... Geo Metros... Ferarris... from point A to point B... close your eyes... there's not much difference.

OK. Yeah. That's complete BS. The Ferarri rocks. And so do Spectors.

I would definitely say Ibanez is like Nissan or other imports - practical, but underrated and I like the Warwick/BMW comparison.

Fenders are like American trucks because they're kindof expensive but they hold their value and the old ones look cooler.

my Yamaha BB604 - armored Chrysler New Yorker with gold trim and a HUGE friggin engine

my Warwick RockBass Streamer Standard 5 string = Dodge Dakota, as long as you take out the Magnum V6 and replace it with an anemic hamster. (It'd be an amazing bass if i had the $$ for different Pups)

My black and mirror P Deluxe is a C5 Z06. Lots of muscle, but kinda slinky and sly when it needs to be, nicely affordable, though not cheap and quite eye-catching without being over-the-top.
My Kingman has to be a Ford woody with a longboard hanging out the back, no question.
My T-Bird, though not English, expensive or uncommon is an Aston Vantage 600. Pure thundah and no subtelty whatsoever. And very, very heavy...

Ibanez: Toyota (works well, but nothing really fancy or innovative)

Fender Precision bass: Ford F-series trucks (nothing fancy too; THE workhorse)

Fender Jazz bass: Cadillac Eldorado 1959

Rickenbacker 4001/4003: Ford Mustang Boss 1969

The good analogies have been drawn, and I like these:

Fender - Ford/Chevy
Rickenbacker - Chevy Corvette
Sadowsky/Lull/Lakland et al - exquisitely restored and improved 1960's-1970s muscle cars
Warwick (German made) - Mercedes
Wal - top of the line Jaguar
Fodera - Maserati
Alembic - Ferrari

Most Non-TBird/EB-3 Gibson basses - the car with the square wheels that delivered the Prince of Canada to his wedding on South Park a couple weeks ago. :hiding:

Hmmmm

All of those high performance cars you list (for the most part) have notorious maintenance issues; I'd say a generic "Porsche" (which doesn't have such issues, or so all the Porsche owners I know tell me).

No matter - that's not my favorite auto comparison;

I much prefer comparing 1970's Fenders to 1970's US cars.... So many similarities!

Gibson Thunderbird = 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429

They both look bad-ass,
They have an incredible sound
Everyone wants to own the real deal, an
Once you buy one, you just want to use your other gear so as to not get any scratches on them.

Fender Precision bass: Ford F-series trucks (nothing fancy too; THE workhorse)

Fender Jazz bass: Cadillac Eldorado 1959

+1 on the Pbass = an old Ford truck, but I was thinking the Jazz would = something like a 32 Ford V8. You know, that was so fast that it helped John Dillinger out run every cop in the midwest, and he wrote Henry Ford a letter thanking him?

I see the resemblance.
