My 1982 Fender 57RI is superlight at 7lbs 6oz with both covers on it. The rest of my P-basses all weigh about 8.5 pounds or less.
Is your '57 RI sunburst or blonde (or other)?
current reissues: sunburst=alder, blonde=swamp ash
LOL, but it's very easy to wear and sounds just like it should.
