Competition: Who has the lightest P-bass?

Hi!

I'm checking out options for a second P-bass, and I want to have one as light as possible (my current MIJ is 9 lbs, and I feel that somewhat on long rehearsals).

So...Who's got the lightest P-bass!?

Rules: Has to be a genuine P-bass or P-bass-copy (Precision-style split pickup only doesn't count)

EDIT: Also, has to have a pickguard and somewhat "vintage" look (Fender Lytes are no go

My MIJ is a hair lighter at 8lbs 14oz...there's gotta be lighter than that though.

My squier is 9 pounds as well. Going to be hard to beat that,unless someone has a chambered body.

Does the headstock matter to you? Because Valenti made me a 5-string P bass that weighed 8 lbs even. A 4-string could possibly be lighter. But of course it's got the Valenti headstock.

My 1982 57 RI is eight pounds even. I know there are some guys on here that have Ps in the seven pound range, though.

Must be nice cant imagine a bass lighter than my p bass. I don't think I've ever played a bass under 9 pounds.

Here's my '83 Fullerton Elite I. It has one of the Leftover Walnut bodies. Great Tone, Sustain, and a Svelt 11 Lbs!!!

I DIY'd a single coil solidbody slab PB that's 5.75 lbs. The body is a very light piece of Paulownia.

If I had gone with the same body with contours and a split coil it'd probably weigh less.

My American Standard P is 8.5 pounds, my Highway One is just a touch over 7 pounds. Both Alder, both maple/rosewood. Goes to show every hunk of wood is different. I hear the MIM Road worn P basses are very light.

EDIT: Also, can someone with a Swamp Ash Blonde '57 Precision please give me som weight-numbers? I've heard they're quite light..

That's a Swamp Ash body with a 1 piece Maple neck , IIRC these were about $1200.00 or so back then used darn hard to come by but roughly 6 or 700 , pretty sure the "S" series are no longer made but I bet the custom shop could easily do one , they also made a "S" jazz , the S was for standard . My #1 bass actually , love it

i bet the squiers that use basswood are your best bet
