Compressor DOOM: Aphex Punch Fac Optical Compressor vs EBS multicomp.Wich's better??

Hello to everyone.
I want to purchase a good compressor (pedal format) and all the bassist I talk with advise me this 2 compressors. I can't test any of them, so I have to buy it online (maybe second hand). Wich do you advise me?Why?.
Thanks to all.

Los dos son excelentes, con sonido transparente. El Aphex es mas barato, y es hecho mas barato que el EBS, pero mucha gente los gustan. El EBS tiene mas variedades de tonos, y es hecho mas solido, pero es mas caro.

(They're both great, with transparent sound. The Aphex is cheaper, and is built more cheaply, but many people like it. The EBS has a wider variety of tones, and is built better, but it's more expensive.)

My Spanish is crap so in English i'll just say:

Never tried the EBS, but im definately a fan of my Punch Factory!! Its cheap, easy to use, transparent sounding and it looks pretty good!! The db LEDs are a nice feature aswell. Highly recommended, but as usual, if you have the chance, try before you buy!! :)

The Punch Factory sounds really good. Just watch out for those in/out jacks as they are not attached to the case and are directly soldered to the board. This could cause a big problem and is a serious oversight in the design of the unit. Other than that, its a great pedal.

Thanks to everybody, and thanks for writting in spanish :D , but I read english better than I writte english :bawl: .
I will buy the compress of second hand, and is really than the EBS is more expensive than the Aphex, but if the difference is enough........
I play classic rock, and I have a Fender Jazz Bass american deluxe, maybe this could help in the decision.
Do you think this two compressor pedals are the best??
And a dummy question, Surely I will buy the pedal in USA, with Ebay, but I don't know if i need to adapt it to the european tension (voltage) or If I can use it normally, without any adaptation.
Thanks a lot.

I've tried a LOT of pedals in general.. mostly overdrive/distortion pedals. I've been close to loose my ****in' apartment because of GAS (just to get an idea of how bad it's been)

And there's only one pedal on my "board" apart from my homebuilt footswitch for the amp. That pedal is the Aphex Punch Factory :) First pedal I bought, only pedal that's been a part of my sound since year 2000.

...another vote for the PF. I bought one after reading about them in this forum. You can find them around $100 US new and cheaper sometimes on ebay.
About the jacks. I use this glue called E6000 for glueing a lot of abs plastic and other materials. It holds like steel. I'm going to put a tiny bit around the outside of the jack and the case just to ensure theyre not going to move on me.

But I know a lot of people who says that the Ebs multicomp has the option "TUBE SIM" who makes it very different and better than others specially to rock music.....what do you think about this??
I am nearly decided to buy the Aphex because is cheaper than the Ebs and I have read very good opinions about it, but I play classic rock and I don't know if the Ebs will be better for me.
And another question, What do you think about the BBE OPTO STOMP....a guy talk me about it, is cheaper than the EBS too, but I don't know how good is it....

Anybody who could resolve my doubts??.
Thanks a lot.

Pienso comprarme el Aphex, porque esta barato y todos lo recomiendan. Yo tambien tengo el problema de que solo puedo comprar online, pero lo bueno es que siempre lo puedo regresar :)

[I'm thinking of buying the Aphex, because it's cheap and everone reccommends it. I too have the problem of only buying online, the good thing is I can always return it :)]

Have not heard the Aphex yet, but I ' ve been using the EBS for several years now (never go without it) and it's just great!!! The "tube sim." is really like an extra tube boost - you 'll hear it. Makes the bass sound more rough and warm with a bit of "grind", the bass cuts through the mix very well.
The "normal" and "multi band" positions are great as well - sound different than the "tube sim." of course.
Another option could be the CARL MARTIN COMPR. PEDAL, from what I read it's just as good as the EBS maybe better, but never tried it myself.
greetings

Just for another option...

Demeter Compulator
This is mine of choice. I found the build quality on the punch factory to be subpar, so I opted for something else. They're both quite transparent, but my few days with a compulator while repairing it really showed me what a true transparent compressor was like. Didn't change your sound, just made you sound better ;)
