Computer data problem

Hello computer genious' :ninja:

I am currently doing a project at college and have all my data saved on a 1GB memory stick. I currently only have less than 2MB on this, including PDF files, Bitmaps and word documents. I have no hard coipes of my work too. Stupid i know. All of the files open correctly as they should bar the word document(the most important). On this document i have around 20 pages of all my specs, research and data. I've transfered all my data onto the computer harddrive and have the same problem with this one document.

When i open this document with word i have a pop-up notice saying 'Insufficient Memory, save the document now'. It will only allow me to click 'ok' and not open the document. Like i said previously, the memory stick is far from full, and when i try opening this file from the harddrive, i get the same response. Is there anyway around this? can i extract the data from this file and transfer it somehow? Did the data not save correctly?

Also, just so you guys know, the project is a blend/mixer effect :) The data includes research into current effects, tubes, op-amps, switching systems, power supplies, schematics, circuit designs and a diary of what happened when, where from and how etc. I would detest doing all of this work again as i'm not the sort of guy that normally likes doing college work. I've done all the research in my own time etc and having no work done from sept to dec is gunna really hurt my project outcome.

Appreciate any help/guidance!

Google is your friend.

Assuming you're using Office 2003, it looks like you might need to apply a critical update.

If your computer is somehow not set up to automatically download and install critical updates you might want to fix that as well...

Personally, I would never rely on Microsoft Word for my documents. I've seen Word documents self-destruct too many times. I write in plain text. If I need it formatted in Word, I paste it into a new Word document and format it, keeping the original plain text version as a backup.
