Double Bass Concern: New TCBam200 Bass Amp Head gets hot!

I'm glad I ran across this post because the little tc electronic bam 200 I have gets pretty warm between sets .
I'm running this little nugget through two diy cabinets each having a 15 inch Peavy BW Speaker with 4 ohms .
Open for suggestions.

I guess that would give an resulting impedance of 2 ohms. I don't know if the BAM is up for that...

Although you probably can run the TC Bam 200 at 2 ohms for a time, it's not rated for that. It's rated for 4 ohms and 8 ohms. For what little wattage you gain lowering the impedance, you increase the amps heat dramatically. Just my take but I wouldn't think that it's a good idea. The owners manual states that the minimum load impedance for the Bam 200 is 4 ohms. Just my take.

You're more than welcome, one solution you could try is externally wiring the 2x15 cabs in series. That would put your two 15 cabinets at 8 ohms. The TC Electronics BC 208 sold as a cabinet for the BAM 200 is an 8 ohm box.

I made a mistake on the ohm. Each speaker is 8 ohms .
So I should be fine running the TC Electronic BAM 200 watt with the 8 ohm speakers ?

There a pair of Peavy black widow 1505 8 ohms.

2 8 ohm speakers in parallel equal 4 ohms so no problems with the speakers you already have and the best power output since the power amp is rated at 4 ohms.
Peavy Black Widows were nice speakers at
the time they were introduced, that said
there are far better speakers currently available.
