Is it because amps and cabs are so much better nowadays that flats seem to be enjoying a renaissance? Volume is cheap, so the voice flats have can be heard.
Well, started loving the flats soon after I got my LM II.
Coincidence?

This thread definately helped me decide to go with some Flats on my Ray.

Listen to this! D'Addario Chromes + StingRay=
Here's a two bass string question - if one has a Precision and a Jazz, which one should get the flatwounds?
Well, I got my Chromes in and put them on one of my Stingray's and oh man, I love the tone i'm getting! Everything I loved about the Stingray is still there without the clank of rounds.
I'm going to test them out tonight during brand practice and see if anyone says anything.
Saw them for sale, I guess you didn't like them in context...
I love the Chromes on my Sadowsky 5, but I think I might try a set of the Sadowsky flats to compare. Do they have the high end that the Chromes do? My hands don't really sweat, and the Chromes still have that brightness and clank after a month or so, which I really like.

Chromes are the best I've found so far, it is also what I'm searching for. The chromes are ok but they still feel that little bit off in the sustain dpartment.

Sorry guys. I really tried to like the Chromes. But they just lacked personality imo, and the tension was bothering me.
