Congrats To My Daughter!

My daughter Abby teaches ultrasound students at a university in Memphis. In addition, she's been working toward her Ph.D.

Yesterday, she successfully defended her doctoral dissertation to a panel. She passed with flying colors and now has a Ph.D in Educational Psychology and Research. She also earned a graduate certificate in Qualitative Research in Education. The graduation ceremony isn't until May, but it IS now official.

I met her and a few of her friends yesterday for a couple celebratory drinks.

Earning a PhD is a big deal. It requires years of very hard work and dedication.

Thanks guys. She really is something. I once made the mistake of telling her that when I got my Bachelor's Degree, I had nothing but A's and B's throughout those 4 years. I guess she took it as a challenge to one-up (or three-up) the old man. Throughout her Bachelors, Masters, and PhD work she never had anything but A's. Not one B!

But just to keep her humble, I occasionally remind her of the importance of common sense in addition to academic prowess...
