Conklin Retro 9-String

   We need a drooling smiley. That bass looks awesome-i look forward to hearing you play it. [have checked out your myspace.com site and holy sh*t]. How many more basses do you have in the works? I need to pace myself as my mom looks at me funny when i yell "HOLY H*LL THAT IS FRIGGIN AWESOME" when i'm on here-for some reason she thinks i'm looking at porn most of the time. That's all

For gits and shiggles, you should have had Bill put one of those old-fashioned thumbrests under the high Bb like this

Haha, imagine that with gigantic pickup covers! Would get in the way of playing though :hmm:. The thumbrest would make it kinda less-Geddy.

ive been wanting a seven string gt for a long time. there no way ill be able to get a custom. can u guys tell me if they still make them i was just on the conklin site and they say nothing about them.
I'm guessing you're talking about the Groove Tools line?? I dont know if they're still being manufactured or not.. You can still find them used. There's one on Ebay right now actually.

again, thanks for the compliments everybody. :)

to answer a few questions:
I spoke to Bill regarding the Groove Tools line - All Models are discontinued and no longer being made (like Mark said they can still be found used). Conklin will be offering a new line (with a new name) soon and are sourcing out a builder. They will be selling them direct as a lower-priced alternative to the custom models.

My bass is not a mass-production model or new century series. However, it can be ordered as a custom build. Adding all the options (9-strings, wood pickguard, MIDI, Piezo, block inlays, etc), it comes to around $7200. If there's enough interest, I hope he'll consider an affordable (albeit w/o MIDI, Piezos, etc) version through the new line in the future. :bassist:
