They're still in my basement, and are actually still unboxed. Not terribly inspiring, sorry.
I had a more tame tube in the one I bought (from a member here who built it- my soldering skills are limited to 1/4" jacks and cables lol.) and swapped to the same JJ tube last night. I do get some very mild OD from my LB-100 with chrome flats. More with a pick. But still mild- I JUST remembered seeing a trim pot inside-is that for gain?

Yeah, I read about that - though iz seems to me that the treble needs to be turned up to about 2 or 3 for the same tone as the bypassed pedal.
That's why "flat" can be misleading. The above settings show how to get a flat response out of the EQ section, but the tube stages themselves are going to be imparting some tonal character to the signal. So even if the EQ is flat, the signal will have certain frequencies naturally attenuated and others naturally emphasized simply because it's going through a tube. We don't use tubes because they're transparent sounding.
I used the tone stack calculator I posted a link for in Post 552, and I set the sliders for the positions that RomanS described in post 557.
. Still agree- sounds great and full (even with no "gain" OD) and th harmonies are exactly what I wanted a tube pre to be. and yes- that stack seems to have poop tons of bass.
