Gibson Releases LP Junior DC BassIt's not a Gibson
The blue one is, the black one is not. The blue one even had a special nickname...can’t remember. “The Hollywood”, or something like that....

Gibson Releases LP Junior DC BassIt's not a Gibson
That's no Gibson. Doesn't have the Gibson logo or diamonds on the head stock and it can never be a true Gibson without those.View attachment 3754234 Gibson did do a run of these , but it was a small run , they're hard to find .
So you want something more like a 335. I just thought of this Check out videos of Jack Cassidy of The Jefferson Airplane. I believe he played a double cutaway Gibson. It may have been custom made but it will give you a good idea of what you want.View attachment 3754953I think this Hagstrom bass is more of a Gibson than a Gibson itself!! If this were a double cut, this would be the one for me!
Getting off the subject......we’re musicians - we’ve all got ADD, it’s a prerequisite, lol!
You know most musicians can't count past four.View attachment 3754953I think this Hagstrom bass is more of a Gibson than a Gibson itself!! If this were a double cut, this would be the one for me!

Well, there you go. I figured it was one or the other but I haven't seen an Epiphone bass in years did they discontinue them? You always see Epiphone 335 guitars but no basses.Epiphone makes the Jack Casady bass
Well there you again.A quick look at MF and you will see many Epi basses TBird, LP, EB, SG Jack Cassidy, etc
Have you seen my glasses?Mark H, That blue one, definitely has the Gibson logo on the headstock.
That's probably trueThe Epi prices are also way less than what all decent parts will cost me to build a LPish and I already have the body wood.....
You have the body wood? So you're going to cut the body yourself. You know you only get one shot at that. Plus you have to route the body for the neck and pickups, and drill the body for the wiring, buy the neck all the electronics, and assorted parts. If you've got the skills and the tools, right on but in the long run it might be better to buy A Jack Casady Epiphone as JPDsma reminded me, unless you just really want to build your own guitar, and there is nothing wrong with that. And you still need a case. If you want to do that get a 335 body that's already cut and routed and get a neck. Then you can get the pickups, bridge, tail piece you like and it will all be custom. You can do gold or black hardware if you don't like chrome but it will be a lot of hours to get it right. I'm sure you know that. The Epi prices are also way less than what all decent parts will cost me to build a LPish and I already have the body wood.....
With the internet today you can learn to do just about anything. The big deal is having the tools.Yep, all good points. Sort of really want to do it, have or have access to all the tools. But, the one shot gets me. I love woodworking but am not the master craftsman my buddy is. I am helping out at his shop ‘cause he has rapidly progressing ALS and we have to finish his kitchen remodel so the house can sell. He gutted the kitchen just before his diagnosis. Unfortunately, there is not enough time for him to teach me what I should know. But if I build one, it will fit one of my existing cases. Although, that JC has had my attention for a while. We will see.
That's an interesting combo. And I agree with you about fender necks. I don't know what it is. I hated Gibson necks when I was younger. I could never play them. They just never felt right in my hand. But a P bass neck OMG. It's the same with Tele's and Strats.Love the oddball Gibson body shapes... Hate contoured bodies... Love Pbass necks...
What to do...
Pink one has a fretless Warmoth neck on the way...
