I'm sure this topic has been covered at some point, but i couldnt locate a how-to with the search, sooo...
Can someone direct me to a how-to for adding a jazz pickup to the bridge position of a precision bass? I'm not afraid to take a dremel to it, and my dad is good with wiring, so its deffinately a doable project for me. Thanks

If you're looking for guitar building tips you could go to Invalid Link Removed. They don't cover the bass, but it's the same principle. I used to post there a lot when I started modding. Do a search for Ron Kirn while you're there too. That guy is a wizard and I got a lot of tips just from reading his posts. The one thing I recommend is getting a template since it's your first go at routing. Stewmac is the place for that Invalid Link Removed. Look at getting a dremel routing attachment if you don't have one already. Think about spot refinishing too unless you want that relic look.

if that was my bass I would route it out for a humbucker instead of a single coil J pickup. either a dual J humbucker or a Musicman type. you get more tones and hum canceling. you could add a switch to split the coils to get the standard J pickup sound also

Thats an awful lot of work, and unless you absolutely love the bass you have, you can go to Rondomusic.com and get a nice PJ for less than $150.
