Because, like jean jackets and black leather, classics remain classics, in spite of temporary trends.

Yup, denim and leather are always comfortable.
Blue jeans since I was a little kid, denim jackets since I was 14, leather jackets since I was 17.
In my teen years, I mostly wore surplus WWII US Army Paratrooper boots, they were a way to get around catholic school dress code and still wear something I didn't hate.
I did rock a nifty green pair of platform shoes in 1974 which were deliberately very much outside of our catholic high school's dress code.
