Thijs van Leer can no longer hit the highest octave like he could when I first saw Focus live in '74 or '75 (bit fuzzy memories from my post-Army college days ;)), but he can still rock out Hocus Pocus. And I don't mind the guitar covering the top octave vocal part.

Focus helped Steely Dan open for BOA as their '73 LA debut right as the Hocus Pocus hit was happening and blew it when Jan fumbled his signature solo then committed the Cardinal Sin of advertising his immense frustration. nobody would have noticed had he just played through it lol that's all I remember of them. an important lesson! bass players may not apply.
