that band's greatest moment was a week after Monterey in June '67, leaving some of their equipment on the Jefferson Airplane's flatbed truck stage for The Jimi Hendrix Experience to use at a free gig in the Panhandle of Golden Gate Park. Jimi said years later this was his favorite performance. it also marked the moment in hippie history everything went from a casual gathering of free youth into a national phenomenon by word of mouth that spiraled out of control as a million kids showed up in the Haight by the next week.
last month I conversed with fuzzy hat guy, having heard him tell his very cool story of being the out-of-the-blue volunteer who drove Jimi to the park and then watched the world change from inches away. I wanted to know if he knew Squeaky Fromme, possibly seen next to him.
