Keith Richards: I was having a conversation with Buddy Guy where he was very generously saying, "Thank God for you guys, because you really did save the blues in America. You brought it all back to life." It was a great thing, because when we were just starting out in London, the idea was to bring Chicago blues to London. We were a bit idealistic at the time—you know what kids are like—but no matter how bizarre it might sound, as a living or as an aim, that was it. We kind of did that in England, and then suddenly we found within a year or two that it was translating over to America—taking coal to Newcastle.
Buddy Guy: Feel like I owed the British the respect they gave Muddy. In the '60s, when our music was dying, the Stones and their English buddies woke up the world to the blues. They wouldn't play if Muddy wasn't on their show. They were shocked America was ignorant of the geniuses living right here in our own backyard. They saw where the gold was buried and they dug it up.

This is the front cover of the album based off of J. Frank Wilson's Last Kiss (and also includes the title cut, whose popularity would be reactivated years later when covered by Pearl Jam in 1999.) It is often rumoured that the female model had blood trickling from her face but it was obviously airbrushed out.

Besides being an important part of the Sixties "girl group" sound, The Raindrops actually consisted of Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich, two of the most important songwriters of that decade. Barry and Greenwich were also married to each other for several years, but later divorced.
