Wow! That's really cool. I had no idea Cyril Jordan was still doing shows. Of the many, many remixes of Slow Death, the One Night Stand version is my favorite, along with a bunch of others on that compilation.

The band has been revived a number of times, with all sorts of personnel shuffling. I last saw them in 2017…Chris Wilson was still involved, and Tony was already onboard.
Nile Rodgers and Vaughan played on Bowie's Let's Dance record while Stevie was about to tour in support, but behind the scenes, manager Chesley Millikin was playing hardball with Bowie's Management team. Tour guitarist Carlos Alomar witnessed the escalating tensions, noting that Vaughan had "all these last-minute negotiations" when everyone was prepared to depart for Brussels. The original agreement included opening slots for Double Trouble, but those opportunities gradually disappeared. Most damaging was the restriction preventing Vaughan from mentioning his own band or upcoming album in interviews. At the very last minute as buses loaded for the airport, bassist Tommy Shannon says they were told Bowie was "on an island and couldn't be reached" when Vaughan requested a direct conversation. Luggage sat on the ground and Vaughan stood against the hotel wall "looking sad, saying goodbye to people." By the time they'd reached the airport, replacement guitarist Earl Slick was already on the payroll. Virtually no one except his bandmates supported Vaughan's choice to leave, the financial loss was significant for musicians who had spent years "couch surfing, and riding in broken-down vans for weeks at a time, with no place to call home and no money in his pocket." Shannon noted there "weren't many people except us telling him that he'd made the right decision."
this weekend in 1973 The Who rallied to recuperate their integrity with 2 killer shows at the Fabulous Forum in LA after infamously hemorrhaging inside the Cow Palace in Oakland when Keith konked out twice near the end of a good performance and a young drummer, Scott Halprin RIP, was enlisted from the crowd to finish the set. I saw a live blip on the 10pm news about the band's coming and bought the 2nd to last $25 nosebleed ticket available the next morning. these 2 nites in LA the band excelled, we got a spectacularly smashed Les Paul plus a rare encore on the first nite but neither the next.

Legendary session guitarist Dean Parks, who has been playing in Los Angeles since 1970. He played on Billy Joel's Piano Man album in 1973, and has contributed to basically every Steely Dan album since. He also did a lot of work for Rod Stewart and a much-discussed number of movie soundtracks.
