I've always thought of this guy as a Rock Solid bassist.
He's written a memoir.
I really enjoyed his memoir. He seems like a pretty down-to-earth guy.

35 years ago, right after I got married, a great uncle of mine passed away. My great aunt came by w/ a couple of his watches to have me choose one, a plain gold dress watch & a 2 tone Seiko. My wife suggested I take the Seiko since I didn't own a 2 tone watch. I decided on the simple elegant dress watch. Turned out to be a 1963 solid gold 5406J Patek. An addiction was born and still never take watch advice from my wife.
