''the band that backed Sister Rosetta Tharp, Sonny Boy Williamson, and Little Walter in '64. It was the last line up of The Five Dimensions. Rod Stewart had left the band while we were still with Jimmy Powell, and later that year we left Jimmy to be a backing group for the artists that the Robert Stigwood agency brought over from America. Hence the above artists, then a short UK tour and TV appearance with Sister Rosetta and a new year 1965 UK tour with Chuck Berry. We went into the studio with him for the 'Chuck Berry in London' album.''

Cennamo went on to being a founding member in the original line-up of Renaissance, along with former Yardbirds vocalist Keith Relf(who had taken up guitar), his sister Jane, former Yardbirds drummer Jim McCarty, and Nashville Teens keyboardist John Hawkins…

There was such a drastic and complete member turnover that after just a few albums, the personnel had evolved to the Annie Haslam version that those who know of the band are usually familiar with.
Then Relf and Cennamo started a hard rock/proto metal band, Armageddon…

…that did not go the distance either.

quite the ensemble, I've semi-followed Mardin's trail from the early '70s, always a class act.
