Welsh pop group The Darling Buds, Valencia, Spain, 20th June 1988. Clockwise, from top left: drummer Richard Gray (aka Bloss), bassist Chris McDonogh, singer Andrea Lewis and guitarist Harley Farr.
I liked their stuff, not groundbreaking but they got overlooked after Transvision Vamp and The Primitives in that odd little trend of vaguely Blondie-ish UK bands.
Looks as if Steve Cropper is crouching down so they’re all the same height. Their rendition of Beatles tunes on “McLemore Ave” are awesome.

Bass player, producer, co-founder of Chic with Nile Rodgers...his bass line from the Chic hit "Good Times" is one of the most copied lines...think "another one bites the dust" for starters...

I attended this concert with my brother and a couple of friends. The Ramones were pretty much booed off the stage. The venue sold soft drinks in paper cups with ice and they were pelted with those ice clumps.
Why? At the time Black Sabbath was heavy duty hard rock played on FM radio. The term “Heavy Metal” was just starting to gain some ground. Sabbath hadn’t toured for several years and the majority of attendees were there to see them. The Ramones were a little more AM radio and drawn more toward the teenie bopper crowd (think Rock & Roll High School). British punk was barely taking off and The Ramones were a lot more mainstream than Black Sabbath.
Imagine Cold Play opening for Rage Against The Machine…that’s what took place that night.
