There's the story of one builder that when he immigrated to the US he didn't have money to buy tools so he built his first few guitars out of wood that was used in shipping crates to get money for tools and more 'expensive' woods. Can't remember who that was.

FUnny, I just came across this. You guys want to hear a funny story? this one day at work, a buddy of mine said: 'Mario, you want this skid? its some sort of hardwood.. kinda red..' I walked over and really wondered what the hell it was until I planed it (it was a skid after all, very dirty) so it turns out its Mahogany, dont know what kind but its nice and sweet !!

I got about 80 pounds of it. I cut most of it and laminated it, ill be using it for a.. howd you call em in english.. 2 drawer thingies on the side of your bed... anyhow, this is what its turning out to be.

Dammit, night stand. Thanks. Tabarnak. A skid? hm.... you pile boxes and all kinds of **** on them and you ship em out. I wouldnt know another word for them. its not a crate, just a bunch of planks nailed together that serves as a nice reliable transportation tool......

I just bought a georgous piece of Bubing. Nice blister. I'm woundering weather to use it whole or cut it up into bookmatched sets, I could get enough to make two guitars. And if so, what core wood should I use? Maple or Mahogany or maybe Walnut?

I bought a big chunk of bubinga to make some solid 1 piece bodies. I'm gonna have to make them pretty thin and countour them quite a bit because it's extremely heavy. This is one of the reasons why warwicks are famous for being heavy. They use solid pieces of pretty dense and heavy woods on a lot of their top of the line models.

I'm trying to keep all of my work at 1.5 or less. Handicap concerns. I'd like to incorporate wheelchair sensitivity in my designs too.
