on a vintage ampeg cab, they use one piece to go all the way around it and they meet on the left bottom side, about 1.5" from the edge. then the back is one piece. i did the sides first and wrapped it to about 2" on the back. then i cut a piece as big the entire back and glue it on. then i take a razor blade with a t-square and cut thru both pieces with one cut. you have to slightly lift the edge of the back piece to remove the extra tolex underneath, then push the back piece flush to the side piece. if you're using 3M super 77, you have to work pretty fast as it bonds almost instantly.
