Cost effective multi purpose rig query: which cab is for me?

A lot of good suggestions for the OP here. One more I'll throw in is you can always get a pre-amp to warm up your tone before you buy your dream Bassman. The pedal won't depreciate too much if you decide you don't need it once you have your full-on tube amp.

INTERESTING. I looked that up and did a little extra digging. Found this very informative bit on how their head is trying to cater to different cab setups by offering that ohmage as an option. Absolutley perfect. Goodby next two paychecks. Hopefully I can find some amps to fall in love with that offer this option.

But...I spent all this time and energy... haha yes the though has crossed my mind. Might be a less expensive option if I can find a good pair to stack vertically, which I'd love to do. I'd have three different configs with the other set of speakers though (210, 410, 210 + 410) with the added bonus of a smaller 210 to carry around for conveniences' sake. Clever simple salient solution though.

Now, as for heads on a budget do yourself a favor and check out old Fender PA100 or PA135 heads. They can be had dirt cheap and actually have 4 separate channels that would make switching back and forth from URB to bass guitar a breeze. It's not for everyone but well worth a look for inexpensive tube heads. And by the way, a P bass sounds crazy good through it and it takes pedals like a dream. And you can daisy chain channels to add gain. I even changed out the input resistor on a couple channels to add even more gain for different personalities for each channel. Might not be your thing but that's OK too.

As far as cool looking goes I've played a white aguilar db 410 and it was pretty special sounding also plenty loud up against 2 obnoxiously loud guitarists the TH500 head had a lot more to give. alternatively, SWR goliath jr 210 8ohm, goliath 410 4ohm will be cheap if you can find them used and have a chrome grill which looks pretty cool

Okay, I've decided to try out a 212x2 setup. I was really considering the Ashdown VS212's but I keep seeing reviews about how they are not close to being bright at all. Which is a bummer cause they look great and have rubber feet on the side so you can stack them vertically without mussing up the tolex.

Anything out there that is vert friendly and good for a bit of brightness?
