This is a bass forum! Of COURSE we're gonna' talk about all kinds of "trivial" things like pick guard color. Like you said, nobody else cares; so we have to discuss things with our low-end brethren.

Also, if my basses look good to me, it brings a smile to my face. I might even enjoy playing it just a little bit more!

I have the same bass and put a black pickguard on it. I like the contrast, but I am easy to please. I use the original white pickguard as a coffee/drinks coaster next to my computer.

If you're going to play it on stage, go for black or white. The black will make the green pop, the white will look cool under different colored lights. Parchment, mint, creme - all those off white things look pretty much white under stage lights, but they aren't quite as nice under colored lighting. If you want to just look at the thing at home, then mint, creme or parchment are OK.

i think i'm going to try. just nervous bc i dont want to mess up something like filing down my frets too far. good thing there's youtube and a lot of helpful threads on here so I should be good sticking with that for now

When I was first learning how to do setups, along with leveling/crowning and polishing, I bought a cheap guitar for $25. I would suggest getting a junk guitar to practice on. Its one of my better playing guitars now.
