Could this be something I regret?

I like black with black covers look however I honestly don't hate the white/default appearance either. Whatever you do don't feel you have to put tort on it just because most people will tell you too.

The black guard looks better than the white. Brown tort might look good with the rosewood board. An aged pearl would look nice. It's not as stark as a regular white pearloid. If you go with the black though, do NOT use white pickup covers!!! :D The black ones look much better.

Here's how the Aged Pearl looks on my Sonic Gray Am. Pro II. But of course mine has the maple board. That's why I'm thinking brown tort might look much better than most people think on your Sage Green.

I have white pearloid on a couple of my Jazz basses. White pearloid > tort, IMHO, YMMV, IANAL.

If you get white pup covers swap out the knobs for white ones:

It is a MIM 2018 Player Jazz Bass...

Check this site out, they're in Jacksonville, FL.
3 pages of jazz guards that will fit MIMs

$34.99 and they have various colors, solids, pastels, wild prints & patterns. They have several that would look great on that bass.

They're UV printed. So they have a very fine textured, matte surface, instead of a high gloss.
But it's an option to WD if you're trying to keep down the $$$. I have a 4ply from WD on an American Performer P/J. I know the pain of buying one. But when there's certain things you want, pearl finish, 4 ply instead of 3 or 2, they can get expensive.

Anyway here's one I got from Carmedon for 34.99 on a 2021 Player Flamed Maple Top Jazz

I don't believe how much energy some people spend worrying about trivia like pick guard color. I guarantee you that nobody you play for will notice your pick guard or care about it.
This is a bass forum! Of COURSE we're gonna' talk about all kinds of "trivial" things like pick guard color. Like you said, nobody else cares; so we have to discuss things with our low-end brethren. :D

Also, if my basses look good to me, it brings a smile to my face. I might even enjoy playing it just a little bit more! ;)

i'm not doing it for anyone else but myself. if i only cared what others thought i wouldnt have gotten sage green in the first place. wouldve gotten something along the lines of black, white or sunburst. all the customization stuff's for ME! if i'm gonna love my bass might as well love how it looks. also, the customization options are there, why not experiment with some?
