Counsel Request about a purchasing problem from ebay

Hi everyone,

after had sent variuos e-mail (by e-mail address, so treaceable) about: item's conditions, perfect fully working, return policy, insured shipment cost etc., I win an auction about a Lovetone Meatball.

As there was a private listing, I couldn't see the private question-answer from others bidders.

After payed the item (about 400$) via PayPal, the seller sent me an e-mail writing:

Hi Xxxx
Thank you very much for your prompt payment.

Before I ship the item I just wanted to check that you are happy.
As discussed in a question from another bidder, the item works 100% perfectly via the power supply but not via the internal battery.

I am happy to fully insure the item included in the cost of the purchase as discussed.

If you are happy with this I will ship the item immediately.

Now, in your opinion, what have I to do?
Do you trust that every other thing is 100% perfectly working after that episode?

Are you going to use a power supply with it?
If so then I don't see a problem, the seller told you - maybe he didn't know that other questions wouldn't show up (I didn't know that).

The seller seems helpful, and there's no reason I can think of that they would lie about anything else.

If you're using paypal you should have protection. You've all ready paid, so get the item, what is there to lose?

Thank you guys for your advice,
but I'm a "suspicious" person...

Now, after that, I've still a great doubt about the fully working condition o the rest of the pedal.... and I don't want to find myself in the unpleasant difficult situation of "not totally working item shipped -->reshipping it-->have back money" etc.. :(

Why didnt' the guy just put what's wrong with the item in the item description? IMO, decline the item. I'm suspicious too.

IME, you have to ask the seller, for every item you bid on, whether their are any problems with it that aren't mentioned in the add. You also have to ask how the item will be packed for shipping.

I've purchased and received several items with major/minor things wrong with them. I mean, the seller just shipped them out and NEVER mentioned any problems. Now, this was when the seller could hold you hostage for a positive feedback.

It's still in the same ballpark. You bid/win an item and then you find out somethings wrong with it. ***?

My worst experience with eBay is when I bought an amp "As is" and the amp was shipped in a box with no padding, tearing up all the tubes, wripping out the transformer and just trashing everything. I contacted the seller and he stated, "well, you bought it as is". ***?
