Country Bassists and strings

I have been in a Country Rock band for about a year and a half and was wondering what the norm was for string choice. I have always used roundwound strings but am considering trying flats but was first wondering what most Country players here are using and maybe get some opinions. It is a little embarrassing that at my age I have never used flats so I am really not sure how they are to play and especially how different they will make me sound.

I use my MIJ 62 Reissue P Bass with La Bella Flats when I play bass guitar in a country band. When I play Western Swing I play upright bass. Occassionally though, when I i play in a cavernous "boomy" veterans type hall I play my Fender Jazz Bass which has round wounds on it.....punchier more mid range tone. When I do recording sessions.....I bring all my various basses.....and the engineer/producer/client ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS chooses my P Bass with flat wound strings.....Its THE classic tone, espicially direct into a mixing board.
