What we do is at the end of the guitar solo of WWRY, our guitar player goes right into the opening riff of Tie Your Mother Down...it works pretty well.

As far as the percussion part, this is a festival size PA and the drums are miked to the max. The kind where the kick drum makes your stomach move. We actually do a modified version of the song as Queen does it on one of their live albums. Our guitar player has one of those little Brian May Vox amps and gets very close to Brian's sound.

cool. My band just added it to our list, and though I really don't like playing it, the crowds always seem to love hearing it. We use a sample for the exact perc sound, and then play right thru to Champions. That usually elicits some surprised looks.
Wish I was a bigger Queen fan, it's just about the only cover we do that I'm not 100% on-board with.

Our guitarist has more of an Alex Lifeson tone, but he does OK on the Queen tune.

You notice we do a lot of "early" Queen. They seemed to be more rock n' roll back in the early days. My drummer just told me that Queen is going back on tour with Paul Rodgers from Bad Company as their front man. Queen without Freddy Mercury is not Queen, but I guess we'll see how they do. im sure john isnt too much into this either, he ever shows up to the live events, its always roger and brian. and yea im sure this tour will suck. with out freddie, its a big bust.
