You are a man of great wisdom!
I used to work with a guitar man who had his own originals that he wanted us to work into the show....... Okay.
We put it off for a long time, but he was a friend, and killer player so we agreed, "Okay. We will play one of your songs at the next gig. Now, be happy!"
We played it the next job. Song was a quirky, off beat number with an annoying hook, and was pretty much a piece of crap....... We played it in the middle of our rock covers set, and the crowd just stared at us like we had passed a cloud of noxious gas. But the guitar player was thrilled.
The club manager actually came up to me and whispered in my ear; "Don't ever play that again, okay." Okay.
Our LS played us a 'song' he wrote the other day. OMFG. The LG and I just looked at each other and shook our heads 'NO'. It was ungodly, painful, and horrific. Three chords, I-IV-V, inane lyrics with no identifiable hook, verse, chorus, bridge, or anything. We are hoping he doesn't ever try that again.
