Covers that really, REALLY suck

One that stands out for me is when Class of '99 (a Layne Staley Tom Morello super group) Covered "Another Brick in the Wall". Now, I'm not a big Pink Floyd fan. I love RATM and AIC is my all time favorite band, but that was just boring and lifeless.

Also a few weeks ago I heard 5 finger death punch doing a cover of "From out of Nowhere" by Faith No More and I wanted to punch somebody in the face. For a band like that to think they are worthy of doing a cover of a FNM song and then executing it so poorly, just pissed me off.

This is not bad... it doesn't sound like the originals at all, but that's not a bad thing in this case. It's most probably deliberate anyways.

EXACTLY. What is the point of a recording group doing a cover if they're going to attempt to sound like another recording. I've already HEARD that version, so tell me something new. Otherwise, don't bother.

I was driving like a maniac down Lake
Street, in Minneapolis, probably around 1995 or so. My friend's wife shrieked, "don't hit Dave Pirner!"

I was all, "man, I had a chance to use Pirner to put a dent in my Ford Granada, and I missed it?"

That's why you need to always pay attention when you drive.

I guess I'm alone on these but ...

I like Duff's playing on KOHD. IMO the GNR version is much better than Clapton's lame version, but I do like Dylan's original as well.

I also like Metallica's TtP. Yes it is a whole different reading, Seger seems to allow himself to be bent over the pool table and violated while Metallica's ain't having it and are willing to fight back.
