That's the pity. This guy and others like him are looking for the absolute noob who might recognize the name Fender enough to think that this might be a fair price. All he and they need is just one sucker.

I already did that. I directed him to Musician's Friend, where he can buy the strap for $40, the bass for $179 and the case for maybe $80 on the high end.

I want to laugh but I can't because I'm sure this has actually happened at least once.

Nahh, these guys are anglers, they are just fishing for hapless bass buyers instead of fish.

As long as their bobber is moving (offers) they keep their bait in the water hoping for a strike.

The best way to deal is to ignore them. Once they figure out their bait is not working, they'll drop it or move on.

Then there's the "Flip" side I regularly get stuff WAAAAY below market due to lack on knowledge on the seller's side or being too lazy to do basic upkeep, refurbishing.

Craigslist, Man I watch it daily looking for deals. It was nasty, I broke it all down, polished the chrome, had to sand the PG because it had black Sharpie all over it. It had a thin hairline crack in one side of the neck, I filled it with super thin and put her back together. She is a keeper now.
