Crayzee concept: Repositionable pickups?

I know I know, I need my meds today.

Okay. You build a typical bass body, typical neck, and do everything up. Then, instead of a pickup pocket, you route out a pickup channel. Then you can install a pickup, see how it sounds, and remount the pickup further up or down, and test it again.

Make a demo bass. A bass customers can try out, to test pickups and different positions. Allz you gotta do, is unscrew the pickup and rescrew it in different spots. Either pre-drilled holes, or just screw a new hole into the body. The holes may get beat up after a while, then just pack em with sawdust and glue.

Wanna see what a Bartolini sounds like in a bridge position, with an EMG in the neck position? No problem. Wanna test a Duncan a bit closer to the neck? No problem. Wanna try a vintage J replica right in the middle? No problem.

it's a neat idea-
just today i actually saw a picture of a bass where the pickup was screwed in at one location and pivoted on that screw. So instead of the whole pickup moving, only the bass side moved.

it takes the place of a blend knob which is kinda cool. Anyway- show us what you come up with.
