Sorry; should have said 'standard Speakon cable'.

Though some makers can get pretty jiggy with it, isn't there a standard wiring? I'll take correction, but isn't 'standard Speakon' a straight-through? +1 to +1 & -1 to -1?

No, unfortunately there is no standard.

A couple of months ago, I bought a Fender premium gold bass cable. It has a right-angle plug at one end and a straight plug at the other. When I had the right-angle plug plugged into my bass, an Asian radio station played through my amp. When I had the right-angle plug plugged into the amp, no radio station.

I didn't understand it, but maybe that had something to do with the shielding only being connected at one end.

I returned the cable. I probably would have kept it if the radio interference happened when the right-angle plug was plugged into the amp. I could tell a difference in the sound with the fancy cable, but it seemed dumb to have the straight plug instead of the right-angel plug plugged into my bass.

No mention of such a feature on the fender site. I'd be suspicious of the fact that there's two different types of connector on that cable - one might have fit the connector on your bass perfectly while the other was a bit of a loose fit causing a dodgy connection.
