It's got a great neck and balances nicely. The stock pickups are totally useless. Seems to be common with these. I just installed new DiMarzios, I'm waiting for strings to arrive and then I'll fire it up

Ibanez X-series You can find them used in good shape for $200 and they play suprisingly well

I always thought the Ibanez EDA's had an odd shape, not sure about tone or playability though but i'm sure you could find one cheap somewhere, it'd have to be used though.

i can't vouch for the bass quality but i've heard one of their guitars and it sounded AWESOME

I own a custom made bass by them, and it's the only other bass I've owned that gives my MMs a run for their money. I've a feeling the company is going to blossom real soon. They're only 5 years old, and they're already making a pretty good name for themselves. Great people too - really supportive of young talent.
